Stats nz
Census field app: verifying every address in the country, offline, waterproof, and easy enough for anyone to pick up.
Statistics NZ asked us to build a field data collection app to do the prep work ahead of the Census. Its job was to verify every single address in New Zealand. It had to work offline, it had to be waterproof, and it had to be genuinely easy to use, since most of the workforce using it was casual, often older, and had little or no digital experience.
That meant balancing real simplicity against the sheer volume of data being collected about every household in the country. We focused on stability and efficiency so people could get through high volumes of addresses without friction: fast, error-proof data entry, workflow management that stayed out of the way, and map integration so field workers could see their workload at a glance. Each release was tested with target users before the next one was built.

Adoption strategy
Doorstep sales, on a tablet: route navigation and clean data entry, built for reps working street by street.
The other mobile workforce solution was a tablet app for Mercury Energy. It let sales reps visit households, present the deals available to them, and sign customers up for Mercury's service on the spot.
The app gave reps an elegant way to navigate their route between households, paired with clean, quick data entry for each customer they signed up, so the doorstep conversation stayed the focus rather than the tablet.
